Bath Bombs 101: Safe, Gentle & Canadian-Made at The Siberian Spa

Bath bombs are more than a bath-time treat. At The Siberian Spa, we craft each one using minimally fragranced, skin- and tub-safe dyes, and locally sourced Canadian ingredients, all approved by Canada Health. Designed with families in mind, and kids with eczema, our bath bombs deliver a soothing, worry-free soak every time.

🧼 What Is a Bath Bomb?

A bath bomb is a compact mixture of baking soda, citric acid, and nourishing additives (oils, clays, butters, and color-safe dyes). When it enters water, the acid-base reaction produces a soft fizz, dispersing soothing scents and moisturizers evenly throughout your bath.

🧪 How Do Bath Bombs Work?

It’s simple chemistry: baking soda + citric acid + water = carbon dioxide bubbles. These fizzing bubbles help distribute skin-softening oils and gentle fragrances throughout your tub.

At The Siberian Spa, we limit fragrances to a bare minimum to prevent irritation, while our custom-colored dyes ensure a soft, Instagram-ready pastel effect - never harsh or staining.

⏳ Do Bath Bombs Expire?

Yes. Most bath bombs perform best within 6–12 months. All of our bath bombs are freshly made in small batches, for guaranteed freshness every time. Stored properly - cool, dry, airtight storage -  our bombs keep their fizz and scent.

🎨 Do Bath Bombs Stain the Tub or Skin?

Bright dyes or mica glitter can temporarily linger - but we only use tub-safe pigments regulated with Canada Health. A quick rinse or swipe with a sponge removes any trace. Your tub stays pristine, your skin stays spotless.

🛡️ Are Bath Bombs Safe?

When thoughtfully formulated, bath bombs are safe for most users. At The Siberian Spa, all ingredients are submitted and approved by Canada Health, meaning every batch meets strict safety standards.

👶 Sensitive Skin & Eczema: Family-Friendly Formula

If you have little ones with eczema or other skin issues, you understand the struggle of finding products that truly soothe.

  • In addition to using skin safe dyes and minimal fragrance and essential oils contents, some of our bath bombs include Colloidal Oatmeal - renowned for reducing inflammation.

  • Some of our bath bombs are made specifically for children with eczema, contains no fragrance at all and uses soothing avocado oil, calamine and oat base.

  • Parent-tested: “My kids never got a rash or flare-up,” one mom reports - a testament to its mild, safe formula.

🚿 Should You Rinse After Using a Bath Bomb?

Even with gentle ingredients, a quick rinse post-soak helps remove any leftover oil or pastel residue - keeping skin fresh and preventing tub buildup.

💁♀️ Can You Wash Hair in Bath Bomb Water?

Yes, but we recommend rinsing thoroughly afterward. Our mild sulfate-free oils are fine in hair, but rinsing ensures no light pastel hues remain.

✂️ Can I Reuse Bath Bombs?

Our bath bombs come in full, half, and traveler sizes. You can easily split a large one into multiple uses - just store the rest in the sealed pouch.

🌾 Are Bath Bombs Gluten-Free?

Yes. All of our bath bombs are 100% gluten-free. We avoid wheat-derived ingredients entirely and verify this in our Canada Health submissions - because no one wants a hidden gluten surprise.

🛁 Can I use Bath Bombs in Hot Tub?

Avoid using bath bombs in hot tubs - oils can clog filters and upset water chemistry.

🌈 What Types of Bath Bombs Are There?

  • Classic Fizz –  Soft pastel hue, minimal fragrance, everyday luxury

  • Calming Lavender – Light lavender essential oil; kid-friendly and soothing

  • Mini Bath Bomb – Smaller sizes suitable for travel or sensory tables.

🌿 Benefits of Bath Bombs : Skin Benefits & Aromatherapy

Our bath bombs are rich in:

  • Moisturizing oils and butters (shea, coconut, avocado, apricot kernel, sweet almond)

  • Gentle salts like Epsom, Himalayan, and dead sea salt -  great for sore muscles

  • Organic oat and plant extracts - to calm and hydrate eczema-prone skin

And yes, they’re a treat—soft skin, mild fragrance, zero guilt.

⏱️ How Long Do Bath Bombs Take To Dissolve?

Our standard bombs take 5–7 minutes to dissolve fully. We recommend dropping them in as you run your bath to maximize fizz and color release. Like your bath bombs to fizz longer? look for Buttermilk and SLSA in their ingredients list - these ingredients product more foam and make your bath bomb dissolve slower up to 10+ minutes depending on bath bomb size.
